Sunlogin 12 is out: better desktop quality, steadier cross-network connectionsSee what is new

Remote file transfer

Move files and folders directly between two devices, with resumable transfers and drag-and-drop.

After remote desktop, file transfer is the most used capability: no uploading to a cloud drive first — files go straight between the two devices, and large ones can resume after an interruption.

Three ways to transfer

Drag files inside a desktop session, open the dedicated file manager window to browse both disks, or use a sync folder to keep frequently used directories aligned.

  • Drag and drop: drop a local file into the remote window
  • File manager: browse both sides like an explorer
  • Sync folder: keep chosen directories aligned
  • Batch selection and queued transfers

Large files and stability

Transfers run through the encrypted channel and can resume from where they stopped, so a network hiccup does not waste the progress. Throughput depends on both bandwidths and whether the link is direct.

  • Resumable transfers for large files
  • Pause, resume and cancel in the queue
  • Direct links approach the bandwidth limit of both ends
  • Verify file integrity after transfer

Permissions and auditing

File transfer is sensitive, so it can be disabled per device. Enterprise editions add logging and approval so data cannot quietly leave the machine.

  • File transfer can be disabled on its own
  • Restrict to read-only or write-only
  • Transfer logs and auditing on Enterprise
  • Alerts for sensitive directories

FAQ

Do I need a desktop session to transfer files?

No. You can open a file transfer session on its own, which uses far fewer resources than a desktop session.

Why is the transfer slow?

Check upstream bandwidth on both ends. On relay mode try another network or time of day, or compress the files first.
