Seeing the picture but getting no response is usually about permissions, input method state or focus. Check in the order permissions → input method → focus → exclusive mode.
Permissions and drivers
macOS needs accessibility permission to control input; on Windows a virtual input driver that failed to load leaves you watching but unable to act.
- Grant accessibility on macOS
- Check the virtual input driver on Windows
- Run the client as administrator
- Reinstall the client to repair drivers
Input method and key state
An inactive input method swallows keystrokes, and mismatched Caps Lock or Num Lock produces unexpected characters.
- Use the same input method on both ends
- Check Caps Lock and Num Lock state
- Click inside the remote window to take focus
- Send combinations from the toolbar panel
Special cases
Games and full-screen apps often use exclusive input; UAC prompts and elevated windows need a client running with higher privileges.
- Enable exclusive input for games
- Elevate the client for administrator windows
- Handle UAC prompts first
- Some anti-cheat systems reject remote input

The mouse works but the keyboard does not.
Usually an input method or focus problem. Click inside the remote window and type again; test with the toolbar virtual keyboard.
Ctrl+C does nothing.
Confirm clipboard sync is enabled; cross-platform copying sometimes needs a reconnect to refresh the sync channel.
